Shark Dives

We offer divers and non-divers the opportunity of diving with the sharks and other marine life in the main display tank of the Melbourne Aquarium. We are now into our tenth year of this exciting venture and have taken over 20,000 people safely diving with the sharks. You too can enjoy the thrill of swimming amongst the sharks and other marine life in full scuba equipment and will have peace of mind knowing that each scuba dive is always guided by one of our fully trained dive staff. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.

Shark Dive Terms and ConditionsWHO CAN TAKE PART:
Scuba diving at the Melbourne Aquarium is available to all people over the age of 15 years. Qualified divers, with or without their own equipment and also those who are not qualified in scuba diving may take part in the experience. People under the age of 15 are able to participate if they hold a junior open water (min. age 12) certification. Some medical restrictions apply.
COST OF THE DIVE:
The prices of the dives vary according to level of experience and whether or not the diver has their own scuba diving gear. The cost is $150 for certified divers with their own equipment, $242 for certified divers with no equipment, $322 for certified divers who require a refresher and $349 for non-divers. Please note that all weight belts, weights and cylinders are supplied at the Melbourne Aquarium. Gift vouchers are available and are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase.
TIME OF GUIDED DIVES:
There are three dive times per day, 3.30pm, 4.00pm and 4.30pm weekdays, 4.00pm, 4.30pm and 5.00pm on weekends, school & public holidays. Non-divers come to our dive school in Prahran at 11am and take part in a one-hour theory session then head to the local pool for a practice dive. We will then meet in the afternoon at the Melbourne Aquarium where all dives are of a 30-minute duration. All divers must arrive at the Aquarium 1 hour prior to the first dive of the day.
WHAT A YOU NEED TO BRING:
If the diver has their own scuba gear they must be aware that full body coverage is essential. This means hoods and gloves are necessary. For the non-divers and those without their own equipment, towel and bathers are all that is required. Diving Headquarters will supply the rest of the equipment. Please ensure all certified divers have their certification cards with them - no card no dive! Log books are also required as proof of a last dive within the last 12 months.
Diving Headquarters are currently booking dives everyday, if you wish to make a booking payment is required at the time of booking (over phone with credit card) then the dive time is confirmed with the diver. If a diver suggests a time and date we can usually slot them in, however, we cannot confirm it unless payment has been made. Diving Headquarters must use this policy as we are only permitted 12 people in the tank per day for environmental reasons. Please also be aware that dive times may change with very short notice due to aquarium needs.
